Resizing Images in Lightroom

I recently received an email asking if it was possible to resize (increase) an image in Lightroom. I have heard this asked a few times so rather than reply with an email trying to describe the process I thought I would post this short video. I hope a few of you find it useful.

New RAW Developer

Many of you reading this will be aware of my move to a Fuji XT1 and the concerns I had regarding the image quality. Now to be clear, it wasn’t that the image quality was bad but rather under certain circumstances fine detail was lost during the RAW conversion in Lightroom. Sometimes foliage would have … Continue reading New RAW Developer

Configuring Your Printer Driver

Printer drivers aren’t usually very easy to use and seem to be a constant source of problems. I created this short video to explain how to configure a printer driver (for the Epson Stylus Pro 3880) to print from Lightroom using a colour printer profile. I hope this helps someone out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_KTq1Q7SRI If you … Continue reading Configuring Your Printer Driver

Heeding my own Advice

Around 18 months ago I published a book titled “Perfect Prints Every Time”. The book was intended to help people who struggle with print making, master the techniques and produce images that match their screens. Judging from the feedback I received the book appears to have helped a lot of people. Unfortunately, it didn’t help … Continue reading Heeding my own Advice

Further Fuji Thoughts

At the weekend I managed to take the Fuji XT1 out for a full day’s photography. In short, I loved using it but there was a nagging concern throughout that my images were being affected by the possible water colour effect. Book Launch: Nik HDR Efex Pro 2

It was probably also due to HDR being used to resurrect images that should have been allowed to die … Continue reading Book Launch: Nik HDR Efex Pro 2

Fuji RAW file Conversion Challenge

Following my last post which explained my experience with various RAW converters and ranking RAW Therapee as the best, I have received a few emails. I can only think they are from disgruntled Adobe employees. Let me be the first to say that I want someone to prove me wrong – I would love Lightroom … Continue reading Fuji RAW file Conversion Challenge

If you have been following this blog of late you will have no doubt read about my possible switch to the Fuji XT1 and the problems I have encountered. The problems became evident after I shot my first few images and noticed the camera wouldn’t resolve grass very well at all, rendering areas which should … Continue reading Fuji XT1 RAW Processing Part 2

Fuji XT1 RAW Processing Part 1

My previous post detailing problems I have seen when trying to process RAW files from my XT1 has caused quite a bit of feedback. As many of you have pointed out, this is a well-known and documented problem with the Adobe RAW converters. Apparently it’s been largely fixed except that in my opinion it hasn’t. … Continue reading Fuji XT1 RAW Processing Part 1

Sharpening RAW files from Small Sensor Cameras

If you shoot with a small sensor camera and use Lightroom for RAW conversion, then it’s a good idea to take care when sharpening. Noise can be a particular problem when at low ISO settings but there are steps you can take. This video demonstrates how to avoid the ugly sharpening artefacts that can result … Continue reading Sharpening RAW files from Small Sensor Cameras
