Another Misty Landscape from Bole Hill Quarry

Last week, I shared an image that I had taken at Bole Hill Quarry in the Peak District. This week it’s the turn of another from the same shoot.

It’s difficult to describe quite how wet and unpleasant it was when I took this shot, although worse rain was still to come. The only thing that kept me going was that the mist was quite thick and still improving.

This shot was taken using a Fuji XT3 and Fuji 16-80 lens at 30mm. It was a tripod mounted exposure of 2.3 seconds at ISO160 and f/13.0. That should give you an idea of just how dull the conditions were, despite being mid-morning.

I converted the RAW file using DxO PhotoLab 6. After that, I applied a small contrast adjustment to the foreground bracken using Nik Color Efex 5. I also made a levels adjustment for the brightness and softened the image, but not much else.

Autumn Colour YouTube Video

In this week’s YouTube video, I share another of my Bole Hill images as an example. This time I show how to use the Indian Summer filter in Nik Color Efex Pro, to add autumn colour to a scene. You can watch it here https://youtu.be/FARgA23wT1o.

I hope you like the image and have a great weekend.
