For this week’s Friday Image, I thought I would take an image at random and see what I could produce. The folder I hit on was from April last year where I visited the Yorkshire Dales. The image here was the first shot of the day and was a test shot (I have much better ones from later on). Typically, I like to do a few test shots to check things such as focus and exposure, before a sunrise starts. If memory serves me right, this was taken around 30 minutes before sunrise in freezing cold conditions.
Here then is the original image as I know a few of you will be interested.

The adjustments were made primarily in Photoshop although I also used a couple of Nik Color Efex filters (mainly colorize and Pro Contrast). The bulk of the work was done using dodging and burning techniques combined with Luminosity Masks generated in Lumenzia from Greg Benz.
I find it quite amazing how with a few subtle adjustments an image can be so substantially improved.
Hope you have a great weekend.
