Well, the thing is that digital leads us to expect and even want the highest, shapest resolution possible, and that is not always the best artistic option. I find it worth experimenting with really low resolution (2MP or less). Even so, I find the grittiness of the people on the steps crop from your image, not quite appropriate to the subject. But it was worth the experiment!
The image was really intended to be an architectural shot of an old church in the backstreets of Paris. The people were really just “getting in the way”. I only highlighted them here as they helped to judge the sharpness. I agree about digital setting our expectations high. Sometimes good old fashioned film is great.
